It’s time for our favorite summer tradition! The Milwaukee Area Amateur Radio Society (MAARS) and the Milwaukee Radio Amateurs’ Club (MRAC) invite all members, family, friends, and local radio enthusiasts to our Annual Joint Summer Picnic on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Whether you want to get on the air with a portable station, test your directional finding skills in the fox hunt, or participate in the annual HT toss, there is something for everyone.
Event Schedule & Location
- Date: Saturday, August 8, 2026
- Location: Greenfield Park – Picnic Area #2 (across from Cool Waters Waterpark, entrance on 124th St south of Greenfield Ave in West Allis)
- 10:00 AM: Station and site setup begins
- 12:00 PM (Noon): Official kickoff and food served
- Until Dark (~10:00 PM): Operating, games, and informal wrap-up
Food & Refreshments
The clubs will provide:
- Hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs
- Sweet corn
- Water, grills, and charcoal
What to bring: Please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share with the group!
Activities
- HF & Portable Operating: We will have an HF station setup for operating throughout the day.
- Fox Hunt: Test your direction-finding equipment and skills.
- HT Toss: Compete for bragging rights in our classic handheld radio toss event.
