Our repeater is a public repeater, open for all to use and enjoy. If people use the repeater frequently over time, however, we ask that they become members to help support the repeater's hardware.
Your membership is just as important to the club, as it is to you. Members have access to IRLP and the auto patch system; these features are not available on other wide area repeaters in town. Members also receive emailed newsletters, and invitations to social events throughout the year. Most importantly though, membership in the club offers one the ability to grow with their amateur radio skills, and open doors for leadership opportunities. In my case (KC0ARF), I started out as newsletter editor, and got involved in weather spotting, then web site creation, and now am the administrator of the IRLP system.
Even with these real-world topics to explore, and opportunities to be made, MAARS is a small business. We have bills that need to be paid (power, tower rent, control lines), as well as other expenses (handouts at swapfests, purchase new parts). MAARS, Inc. sponsors two repeater systems, and provides an excellent communications resource in SE Wisconsin. Our customers are the amateur radio community who are served through our efforts. Our sources of income are from you-- through donations or membership fees.
Please feel free to download the following forms, and sending them in to complete your membership application. For our returning members, feel free to download the renewal form. Renewals and New Applications may be made at any time, and they are pro-rated throughout the year. For example, if you were to join in June, your application dues would only be $2.
MAARS renewals occur on July 1, when membership dues are due. We ask that members complete the process in June.
